Olá! Desculpem a ausência nesses últimos dias, mas tenho estudado quase que 12h/dia, deixando as outras 12h pra costurar as encomendas do último post! auhauhauh <3 (mentira, tem que dormir e comer direito também, viu?!)

Então, hoje venho fazer uma review E mostrar um projeto de costura que eu vinha namorando há algum tempo, o molde polêmico da Simplicity 8127.

Hi! Sorry for my absence these days... I've been studying and sewing a lot of commissions lately, so I'm not really having time to  post online.

Anyway! Today I'm gonna review and show you the polemic Simplicity 8127 pattern that I took as a challenge this month. \o;/

Eu não sou fã da Simplicity (prefiro Burda) e tento correr desses moldes prontos, mas como era um desafio, comprei as peças e pus-me a cortar o tecido.

I'm not a fan of Simplicity (I prefer Burda) and I try my best to avoid ready-to-print patterns from companies that aren't related to lolita fashion, but since this was going to be a challenge, I bought it and started to cut the fabric.


O molde é bem direto: uma saia de cintura alta A-line, corpo bufante no peite e mangas bufantes. ( vestido "lolita" é o A!). Foram 80 folhas impressas, coladas e cortadas para montar o molde (e poderia ter sido bem menos se esse trem fosse melhor organizado...)

The pattern is pretty straightforward. It's made of an A-line high waisted skirt + puffy sleeves and body.  If you buy it you'll have to print 80 pages (even if you actually end up using only 40 of it...).


Eu comecei pela parte do busto já que ela seria a mais difícil para mim. Na imagem acima você pode conferir as parte cortadas (na esquerda estão as mangas e no centro, o maiorzão, é o busto).

I started with the bust part since it was going to be the hardest. In the image above you can see all the parts cut for model A (the first one in the left is the sleeve and the biggest in the middle is the bust part).

As mangas eram meu maior medo nesse molde. Como você pôde ver lá em cima, a modelo fica com o busto aparecendo e a manga muito para trás, mas como eu já tava alterando tudo, decidi não mexer muito na manga e costurar seguindo o guia.

The sleeves were my biggest fear while sewing. As you saw, the model for pattern 8127 A has some cleavage showing, and the sleeves are too far from the centre. Even with that, I tried not to alter much and focused on finishing everything. 

 No final das contas as mangas realmente ficaram afastadas demais para meu gosto, mas como já estava tudo acabadinho, não quis desfazer.

In the end, the sleeves did get too separated, but I was too lazy to unsew and sew everything together, so I just left as is and decided to include some lace.

1. Cortei as peças;
2. Passei tudo;
3. Fiz uma waist tie;
4. Costurei tudo junto;
5. Preguei um zíper invisível; 
6. Fiz os babados da barra.

5. Put a zipper in the middle; 
6. Sew a ruffled rectangle at the end of the skirt.

Não ficou perfeito, precisei fazer uma série de alterações no vestido, no tamanho, nas medidas e nos acabamentos, não gostei de como a manga ficou e achei o molde muito mais Rockability do que Lolita, propriamente dito.

Para quem gosta de usar moldes prontos, tudo bem, mas para quem consegue traçar os próprios moldes, ou é iniciante na costura, não recomendo a compra do 8127 tendo foco em lolita.

It's not perfect. I had to make a ton of alterations in the dress, sizing, measurements, finishings etc. I didn't like how the sleeve was put and I found it much more Rockability than Lolita in the end.

I don't recommend this pattern for beginners. For those who can't trace their own patterns, Otome no Sewing is a better option, even if you'd have to make a mix and match to get this same dress.
